Post-Election Updates

Two weeks have passed since Tuesday’s election. While an overwhelming number of our endorsed candidates won (please see below), the results nationwide and for our state’s highest office were disappointing. Despite running as strong champions of women’s reproductive rights, equal pay, and other priorities so important to us, many of our candidates lost.

Anthony Brown lost. Several good candidates for US Senate, Congress, governorships of other states, and others lost. These losses hurt deeply because they represent a crushing backlash against the progress we’ve won, and especially because of the ramifications for women and families.

Here in Maryland, we will defend hand-won funding for essential programs. On the national level, we must do the same and also fight to defend rights we’ve struggled to ensure. We aren’t beaten. We’ve been pushed back, but we won’t back down. We will celebrate the victories of our many friends who beat the trends, and we will work together to make new progress where we can. To do that, we will need your help!
