“White Women – Can We Talk?” The Listening Tour

Join a discussion with Women of Color to learn how to become better allies in this critical conversation

Tuesday September 29, 2020 7:30 pm

NOW hasn’t been on the forefront of involving women of color in the organization’s leadership over our 50+years. This isn’t just about having women of color as our national elected leadership. In fact, many of our states and chapters struggle to attract women of color in leadership positions or even as members. No one wants this dynamic to continue and the NOW State President’s Caucus has been working to create opportunities for white women to learn to become serious allies in this critical national conversation.  Maryland NOW is partnering with Rhode Island NOW to hold an event for our members to explore the issue and solutions.

The political climate in our country today has created openings for dialog to change this for the better. NOW State Leaders have created an opportunity to begin the dialog with a forum being held in partnership with state members in small groups all over the country.

White Women – Can We Talk? The Listening Tour features 4 NOW State Presidents who are women on color – Triana James Arnold, Georgia NOW; Kolieka Seigle, California NOW; Freda Mckee, Missouri NOW;  and Mariquita Anderson, Minnesota NOW. They will lead a conversation with Maryland and Rhode Island state members to discuss where efforts fail and how to create dialog so all can become better allies.

You will not want to miss this fabulous opportunity. Please contact us at info@marylandnow.org for the Zoom link to join us on Tuesday evening, September 29, at 7:30 pm.
