Maryland Legal Aid provides a full range of FREE civil legal services to financially qualified Marylanders and people over 60 from 13 offices around the state. Maryland Legal Aid handles civil, not criminal, cases. Areas of general civil legal services include:

Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland

PBRC is the statewide coordinator of volunteer legal services. Our mission is to promote equal access to justice in Maryland by coordinating and supporting volunteer civil legal services, providing resources and support for legal advocates for the poor, and promoting cooperation within the legal community.


Human Relations Commission

The Human Relations Commission was established by County Ordinance in 1974, under Division 12 of the County Code, to protect the civil rights of individuals who work and live in Prince George’s County, Maryland.​ The Commission is the Civil Rights agency for the County.


The Collaborative Project of Maryland

The Collaborative Project of Maryland offers low income families the “Collaborative process” for resolving family disputes.  Separations, divorces, and other family transitions may use the collaborative process.  Both sides can bring their own lawyer, and may call on mental health professionals and financial professionals which are provided by the project.
