Jakeya Johnson

 

Jakeya Johnson is a dedicated advocate and a Masters of Public Administration and Policy Candidate at Bowie State University. With a background in healthcare management, Jakeya’s journey took a transformative turn as she discovered her passion for advocacy and policy. She has actively worked in the Maryland General Assembly and currently serves as a valuable member of a philanthropic organization that empowers black and brown led organizations by shifting power to their hands. In addition to her professional endeavors, Jakeya volunteers as the Young Democrats of Maryland Women’s Caucus Chair and The Legislative Task Force Chair for the Maryland NOW.

Her commitment to gender equality and social justice is evident in her legislative efforts. Notably, she successfully advocated for the passage of House Bill 477 during the most recent legislative session. This bill expanded access to reproductive healthcare on college campuses, impacting the lives of countless individuals.

Outside of her advocacy work, Jakeya finds solace in nature, enjoying the outdoors and embarking on memorable travels with her spirited 5-year-old daughter, Zoey. Her unwavering dedication to amplifying marginalized voices and driving positive change makes her an inspiring force within the field of public administration and policy.
