Maryland NOW works to eliminate discrimination and harassment in the workplace, schools, the justice system, and all other sectors of society; secure abortion, birth control and other reproductive rights for all women; end all forms of violence against women; eradicate racism, sexism and homophobia; and to promote equality and justice in our society.
Action is a key piece of our work as an organization in drawing attention to issues affecting women and their families. Taking ACTION can mean a rally or gathering of women and men, mobilized in support or opposition to a legislative or judicial issue. Actions can also be called to draw attention to the need for societal change – unfair labor practices by companies such as Amazon or Wal-Mart, calling attention to violence against women in social media or film, work on legislation in Annapolis or Congress, or actions at the Supreme Court.
