“Don’t Redact Me:  Women in Today’s Resistance”

The world is a very different place for us than anything any of us have even known. To resist what’s happening and to force a stop to the actions of the administration against our democracy is very important and something we all have to work to do, but how? Where to start? What’s being done? How can we make our voices heard?

Agenda:  Our morning session will involve voting (again) on some bylaw changes (members can review these proposed changes (below), and conducting Maryland NOW business as we elect officers for the coming year. We’ll hear an overview of what the groups we’ve invited are doing and plan what we can do to be a part of this resistance.

Our panel of speakers will include representatives from the ACLU, Indivisible, a federal employees’ union, and a person from the religious community. Each panelist will discuss their work as a part of the resistance with us.

The conference will be presented as both in-person in Annapolis, and virtually via Zoom. You must register in advance as an in-person attendee to receive lunch, and we want to make sure we can accommodate everyone who would like to join us online. The registration form provides a link to our “Donate” page if you are attending in person and are able to pay to attend. Any amount is acceptable and much appreciated!

Registration: The link to our registration form is above.  The link to bylaws information is below. The notice of the proposed bylaws changes went out to members 30 days prior to the conference, as is required in our bylaws. Notice of these proposed changes was sent to everyone listed as a voting member 30 days prior to the conference. The registration form will contain space for you if you are attending in person to register for lunch, or to let us know that you would like child care.

Interested in Doing More:  If you are interested in learning more about becoming a leader in Maryland NOW or want to place your name in nomination to run for a specific position on Maryland NOW’s Executive Committee leadership team, please write to Sandy Bell, Nominations/Elections Chair: nominations@marylandnow.org.

Questions: If you have questions about the conference please write to:
MDNOWStateConference@marylandnow.org.

We hope to see you at this important conference as we discuss and plan our resistance to these threats to our lives and to our country.

Bylaws Changes

At our conference business session, we will be voting on proposed changes to our bylaws. These changes do not affect anything substantive or change the structure of Maryland NOW in any way. They are a “clean up” operation, designed to reflect the way we do business in an electronic age and based on 50+ years of experience as to how things work.

Here is a copy of the complete bylaws document with the proposed changes included in green, and the proposed deletions shown in red with a strikethrough  This was posted on May 7th, 2025.

Here is a summary of the proposed changes of the Maryland NOW Bylaws that was mailed to the membership 30 days prior to the state conference on June 7th

If you would like a paper copy of the complete listing of all the changes, please contact president@marylandnow.org and we will send you a copy as soon as possible.
