Lois Galgay Reckitt – Trailblazing Feminist Dies

 

We are very sad to report the death of Lois Galgay Reckitt, a NOW leader known, loved, revered by many activists for many decades. Lois is most recently known and honored for her work in the Maine Legislative. She was the executive director of Family Crisis Services in Cumberland County, Maine for 36 years.

NOW activists in the Mid-Atlantic area knew her from her years in NOW – as a National Board member and as national executive vice president in the 1980s. She was also a cofounder of the Human Rights Campaign.
